The Magnificent Seven !!

I can hear you whistling it & next you'll be trying to name 'em all & you'll get to six & be pulling your hair out - I'll start you off with Yul Bryner !!

Now you're wondering what's that nutter banging on about ?!!

The 7 in question is the 7 hours I was running over the weekend :)

After a PB on Saturday I headed out to one of my favourite marathons, The Robin Hood in Nottingham & again the event failed to dissapoint. Fantastic organisation, great support & many of the Usual Suspects were there, although "Kaiser Sauzee Rumbles" had fled the country leaping over Hadrian's Wall !!

I was joined out there by Manic, Naomi P, Anna, Gymfreak, Dirt Monkey, Gary, club mate & chauffeur Michelle (many thanks for the lift) & Stevie "Wonder" to name but a few.

But the star of the show was Simon illingworth coming back from Cancer & earning an MBE along the way the "super postie" completed marathon number 100 (& in under 3 hours 30 mins!!) thus completing a 20 odd year journey from marathon number one (not the original one from Marathon,Greece but almost as far back - LOL !!) . Many congratulations to a true gentleman.

My intention after running myself into the ground Saturday was to see if somehow I could drag myself round in under 4 hours as my previous 3 Robin hoods had all been sub 4's. I started steadily & after 3 miles was 30 seconds behind schedule but as the race unfolded I got into it & those 9 min miles became 8.30's by half way & become 8's by mile 18 & became 7.45's in the last 3, there was lots of mental maths as i went round & my goals changed a few times & with 6 to go my aim was to complete 2 marathons in 2 days in under 7 hours & I made it with over 3 mins to spare. Lovely bling medal with Lincoln green ribbon (obviously !)

After a few tough times through the summer I'm now back & loving my running :)

No way could I possibly blog today without a big shout out to a very special lady "Super Mel Johnstone" who on Sunday took Moray by storm finishing her 100th marathon & in doing so becoming the youngest female ever to achieve the feat - much respect to her amazing achievements.

On the subject of milestones my buddy Dave Ross notched up number 150, I've been honoured to accompany him on 31 of those :)

Have you worked out all seven yet or did you have to Google it ?!!!

Ok I'll give you Steve Mcqueen too !!

keep on Running

foxy !!
